Welcome, neighbors!

Hi y'all. This is the place I (David Dunning) suckered myself into trying to put together for all of us. Here's the basic idea: each of you neighbors, who live within a block or two of the intersection of SW Admiral Street and SW 47th Street, create an account for yourself here. Put in your address, phone number, email address, URLs of sites you may have, Facebook accounts and such, and whatever other kinds of things we decide would be good. Any and all info about you will only be visible to other neighbors who have also created accounts and have been confirmed to be real neighbors here.

There will be very little on the site that's visible to anyone without an account. This is so we can feel more free to share with one another, knowing that it's only our real neighbors that will be able to read what we write or see photos or whatever that we add here.

This is your site. We will do things based on what the consensus seems to be. You can have your own blog here if you want. I hope you'll want to speak up in the forum. We can have photo galleries. Add things to the calendar, from street parties to Green Waste days.

One thing I think could be especially useful would be to do our own little Angie's List sorta thing, sharing info about contractors, dentists, vets, or whatever, that we've had good (or bad) luck with.

Use the Contact form to email me if you have any questions prior to creating an account. Once you have an account, you'll have other options for asking questions or otherwise expressing yourself.

I haven't done anything much with the site since the initial email announcement, since there was so little response, but now that there's a bit more interest expressed, I'm somewhat more inclined to work on it. It's basically a chicken and egg problem now; I understand that if people look at the site and don't see much, they don't see the point in signing up. But if I don't see interest in the site, I'm not much motivated in putting work into it; I certainly have plenty of other stuff on my plate.

Therefore, if you'd like to see this site become useful to you and the neighborhood, you'll need to communicate that by creating an account and then posting here.

David - Cathy and I appreciate the work you put into this. We had full intentions of opening an account but it was put off too long and it fell off the to do list. Sorry to have made you send your second e-mail. This will be very handy for the neighborhood.

Hi Colin, thanks very much for coming and commenting. I've gotten really bored seeing only my own name here!
