You may be wondering why I'm suggesting that you bother to create an account here. Don't we all have enough usernames and passwords to keep track of? Who needs another one?
The thing is that the reality of the internet now is that bots and search engines and spammers will probably find this site sooner rather than later. Because the URL is a subdomain (meaning there's the sobrnabe part in front of l2d2.net) , this will not happen as quickly as it would on a base domain site (such as l2d2.net), but I have to assume it will be found plenty soon enough. That being the case, the only way we can have an online place to talk among ourselves without concern that what we say might end up on stored on some computer on the other side of the world or whatever, is to require a login. This creates a kind of firewall to give us some privacy. There's just no other way to do it.
If there's nothing here of value to you, then of course you don't need to bother with an account here. But I submit that that's a self-fulfilling prophecy! So please, come on in and help us enrich and strengthen our neighborhood!
You will need to provide your street address when you create your account, and you can provide some other information at that time if you choose. This information will only be visible to other verified neighbor members, and even then it's not all visible. As I have it set up right now, your street address, phone numbers (if you provided any), and URL (if you gave one) are visible to other members.
Your email address is not visible to anyone, but other members can send you email via your personal contact form. If you reply to email they send you that way, they will then have your email address from your reply email. One way of getting to other members' personal contact forms is by clicking on their name where it appears in red as the author of a post, and then selecting the Contact tab toward the upper right. If you are not logged in, the author name will not be a link and will just be regular black, unclickable text.
